First aid with Autostrada Wielkopolska – take part in training at the Rest and Service Area

You are witnessing a road accident, you see the victims, but don't know how to help them? Each of us  has a duty to help in a situation threatening the life or health of another human being. How should you  react when witnessing a road accident? Autostrada Wielkopolska and the Wielkopolska Firefighters  Foundation invite you to an innovative first aid training using virtual reality.

All drivers traveling on Autostrada Wielkopolska can take part in first aid training on Thursday 10th November  at the Tulce Rest and Service Area (A2 km 177, in the direction of Świecko) from 10.00 until 15.00 hours. The  training planned in a virtual environment using VR technology provides for practicing various situations, using

a defibrillator in the event of a sudden cardiac arrest or instructing on the life corridor, acting in emergency situations on the motorway and much more.

- The health and safety of travelers counts among our top priorities. Acting in emergency situations on the  motorway differs slightly from behavior on other roads, which is why we continue our educational activities  regarding safe traveling on the motorway. Providing first aid is mandatory in an emergency, and the ability to  cope with such stressful situation is invaluable. Thanks to the trainings, we practice, consolidate and pass on  new skills, increasing the confidence of drivers and encouraging proactive attitude in emergency situations - says Krzysztof Andrzejewski, member of the Management Board of Autostrada Wielkopolska.

Autostrada Wielkopolska is continuously working to increase road safety and improve drivers' skills in terms of  using motorways and expressways. Last year, AED defibrillators were installed in each of the 22 Rest and  Service Areas of the A2 concession section. The Company has been developing this aspect and taking up  further activities.

Innovative training in virtual reality

First aid training at the Tulce Rest and Service Area (approx. km 177 of A2 in the direction of Świecko) will be  conducted by firefighters from the Wielkopolska Firefighters Foundation and the Kamionki Volunteer Fire  Brigade. Participants in the training will use VR glasses and immersed in the virtual reality, under the

supervision of a rescuer, will learn step by step the rules of providing assistance to an injured person in  conditions reflecting a real life-threatening situation.

The training program covers the most important issues such as the rules of using the AED and properly performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation. At the same time, participants will have the opportunity not only to  develop practical skills, but also to talk to firefighters and receive clear instructions on how to behave in  emergency situations, get help on the motorway or create the so-called corridor of life.

- Providing first aid is an important skill not only in crisis situations, but also in everyday life. Sudden cardiac  arrest is just one of the situations we can witness in a public place. In such case an effective, quick reaction  taken within a few minutes can really save someone's life. First aid involves not only activities that directly  increase the chances of survival of the injured person, but also a number of other practical skills impacting  such person’s health, such as applying dressings, as well as skillful reporting of an emergency situation and  calling for help. Meanwhile, according to statistics, nearly half of Poles admit that they would not be able to  provide such assistance in case they witnessed an accident on the road. That is why we are glad to be  involved again in promoting attitudes that increase road safety and, together with Autostrada Wielkopolska,  encourage travelers to develop their skills during a break in their trip - says Krzysztof Smugała from the  Wielkopolska Firefighters Foundation.

Each of us is obliged to provide help in a life or health emergency. May there be no such need, but if a  misfortune occurs on the road, we had better be prepared and know how to act.

New traffic organization in the Poznań Zachód interchange

Attention drivers  -  a new mandatory traffic organization has been implemented at the Poznań West interchange. The modifications mainly concern vehicles entering A2 from S11 and S5 in the Poznań direction. A lane change is prohibited for vehicles driving from S11 in the direction of Poznań and the speed is limited to 90 km / h on the two-lane ramp lane.

The new traffic organization aims to take care of the divers’ safety and ensure driving comfort. Autostrada Wielkopolska faces the issue of road safety with the utmost attention. The situation on the motorway is analyzed in detail, including the sections carrying increased traffic volume, such as the interchanges connecting the motorway with the S11 or S5 roads.

The data collected by the Company showed an increased number of collisions in the southern part of the Poznań Zachód interchange, at the junction of the ramp lanes leading from the S11 road from Piła and the S5 road from Wrocław. Upon scrutinizing traffic flows and the causes of collisions, Autostrada Wielkopolska first developed a concept, and then a replacement design of a permanent traffic organization. The changes have been implemented upon the approval of the documentation by the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways.

The basic modification consists in introducing a ban on changing the lane to the right one for vehicles entering the motorway from the S11 road, as indicated by appropriate road markings and vertical signs. At the same time, additional speed limits of 90 km / h have been introduced on the two-lane ramp lane in the direction of Poznań and above the exit lane on the northern road. Also, additional symbols for A2, S5 and S11 roads have been placed to enable drivers to take the appropriate lanes early enough.

Driving bans for heavy vehicles on the extreme left lane of the Poznań Motorway Bypass

From 20th September this year heavy vehicles will be banned from driving on the third, left lane of the Poznań Bypass. The traffic ban for these vehicles will be implemented between the Poznań West and Poznań Krzesiny interchanges for both directions.

Upon consultation with the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways and the Provincial Police Headquarters in Poznań, from 20th September this year the permanent traffic organization will be changed on the Poznań Motorway Bypass i.e. between the Poznań West and Poznań Krzesiny interchanges. The change consists in a traffic ban for vehicles with a maximum permissible weight exceeding 3.5 tons on the extreme left lanes of the motorway in both directions. Such ban is motivated by the care for the safety of drivers and the maintenance of traffic flow. Information about the ban will be communicated to road users by means of the so-called lane control signs located on the gantries above the motorway carriageways.

Traffic on the Poznań Bypass is subject to constant monitoring. Comments provided by users of this section, as well as the results of the analysis of the heavy vehicles’ traffic volume prompted the Company to develop and submit an application to implement a traffic ban for vehicles weighing> 3.5 tons on the extreme left lanes of the Poznań Bypass. After approval of the project by GDDKiA, the ban will be implemented on Tuesday, 20th September, between the Poznań West and Poznań Krzesiny interchanges. Moreover, please note that a ban of overtaking for heavy vehicles is in place in the section between the Poznań Krzesiny and Poznań Wschód interchanges, where there are currently two traffic lanes available in each direction, and in the interchanges located outside the Poznań Bypass.

Also please be reminded that the speed limit in the Poznań Bypass is 120 km/h for passenger cars and 80 km/h for heavy vehicles. Compliance with the regulations, including the rule of driving in the right lane allows for maintaining traffic flow and safety.

New toll rates in the Nowy Tomyśl – Konin section of the A2 motorway

Starting from 9 September 2022 toll rates in the tolled sections of Autostrada Wielkopolska between Nowy Tomyśl and Konin will increase. Depending on the vehicle category, toll rates will increase by less than 5 percent. The change in toll rates is forced by high, two digit inflation rate, and very strong increase in prices of construction materials, translating into increased costs of maintenance and implementation of the planned projects. The toll rate in the A2  Świecko - Nowy Tomyśl section remains unchanged.

The toll rate coming into effect on 9 September this year at 6.00 hours for driving each of the three 50 km sections of the motorway between Nowy Tomyśl and Konin will amount to:

  • PLN 26 - Cat. 1 (motorcycles and passenger cars with two axles)

  • PLN 39 - Cat. 2 (two-axle motor vehicles, at least one of which is equipped with twin wheels, and motorcycles and two-axle motor vehicles with trailers)

  • PLN 60 - Cat. 3 (three-axle motor vehicles and two-axle motor vehicles, at least one of which is equipped with twin wheels with trailers)

  • PLN 91 - Cat. 4 (motor vehicles with more than three axles and motor vehicles with three axles with trailers)

  • PLN 260 - Cat. 5 (oversize vehicles)

The above rates include VAT at 23 percent, because tolls in the concession motorways in Poland are subject to tax on goods and services, unlike public motorways where VAT is not levied.

The cost of driving Autostrada Wielkopolska in the Świecko - Nowy Tomyśl section remains unchanged. Drivers of category 1 vehicles pay PLN 18 for driving 106 km.

The A2 concession section between Nowy Tomyśl and Konin is entirely maintained by Autostrada Wielkopolska, and is not subsidized by the State Treasury to any extent. The change of toll rates is caused by the increased costs of maintaining the motorway and implementing the projects, due to the rapid increase of inflation rate, and record price levels of construction materials, producers prices and subcontractors’ man-hour rates.

The inflation rate in August 2022 was estimated by the Central Statistical Office at the rate of 16.1 percent, the highest for 25 years. The prices of construction materials have continued to increase, reaching 29 percent in July this year as compared to July last year. A two digit increase has also been observed in transport prices, 27.7 percent in July y/y. In addition, the producers prices in all industry sectors have grown incessantly. Producers inflation, that is the rate of price increase which Polish companies have to face, in July amounted to almost 25 percent y/y.

The average daily traffic in the Nowy Tomyśl - Konin section amounts to ca 30 thousand, and in the Poznań motorway Bypass to 85 thousand, approaching 100 thousand vehicles on some days.  Heavy vehicles form a large share of traffic, with heavy impact on the pavement wear and rehabilitation requirement. The motorway operation is also considerably affected by the increased flow of vehicles joining the traffic from S5 and S11 express roads. Despite increasing inflation and costly motorway rehabilitation and maintenance, the Company has timely completed the planned projects and implemented upgrading in compliance with the adopted long term maintenance plan and the Concession Agreement.

This year Autostrada Wielkopolska has commenced an extended rehabilitation of pavement in the section between Nowy Tomyśl and Poznań. The pavement in the Nowy Tomyśl interchange and over 26 km of the mainline carriageway has already been rehabilitated. The rehabilitation of pavement in the Buk interchange and farther motorway section has been underway. The projects will involve a thorough resurfacing in the entire section from Nowy Tomyśl to Konin, once again during the concession term. In addition, the rehabilitation of engineering structures (bridges and motorway overbridged) and the construction of the new operation and maintenance center in Września are planned. This year the Company has completed general rehabilitation and upgrading of toilet buildings in the Rest and Service Areas. The electric vehicles charging station in the motorway is also being extended, and solutions are being prepared to promote environmental protection and increase drivers’ safety. Moreover, planning works and preparation have been underway for further extension of the Poznań Bypass to include the third traffic lane in the Poznań Krzesiny – Poznań Wschód section.

The projects being implemented by Autostrada Wielkopolska serve to ensure high quality of road infrastructure and do not burden the state budget or the taxpayers.

Autostrada Wielkopolska SA and Autostrada Wielkopolska II SA  are international concession companies responsible for the construction and operation of the A2 motorway from Świecko to Konin. The 255 km section is the largest project in the Public-Private Partnership system in this part of Europe. The projects implemented by both concession companies have become major success, i.e. were timely completed within the assumed budgets agreed upon with the public party and the banks, without the EU subsidies and without financing by the State Treasury.

Pavement upgrading in the Buk area of the A2 motorway

On 3 September off-ramp lanes from A2 in the Buk interchange will be opened for traffic. At the same time the following phase of works will commence and the on-ramp lanes in the Buk interchange will be closed.  As a result of excluding off-ramp lanes from operation, detours will be marked. Simultaneously, pavement upgrading works have continued in the motorway mainline. Drivers are asked to pay special attention and observe the temporary traffic organization signs.

Autostrada Wielkopolska is starting the next phase of the works related to the pavement rehabilitation between km 137 and km 140 of the A2 motorway. After resurfacing the southern carriageway of the above mentioned section and A2 off-ramp lanes in the Buk interchange, on 3 September off-roads will be opened and traffic will be diverted to the southern carriageway. At the same time, the pavement rehabilitation in the Northern carriageway and A2 on-ramp lanes in Buk will commence.

Detour for drivers wishing to enter the A2 motorway in Buk

Due to the pavement rehabilitation on on-ramp lanes of the Buk interchange, detours will be marked starting from 3 September this year:

  • Drivers heading to Świecko will use the detour along the provincial road no 307 (DW307) from Buk in the direction of Nowy Tomyśl, next along the provincial roads DW308 and DW305 to the Nowy Tomyśl interchange, where they can enter the motorway.

  • Drivers heading to Poznań will use the detour along the provincial road no 307 (DW307) to the Poznań Ławica interchange and along S11 road to the Poznań Zachód interchange.

Pavement upgrading in the Buk area of the A2 motorway

Simultaneously, works have been underway in the motorway mainline. On 3 September the works are planned to be completed on the A2 Southern carriageway in the approx. 3 km section (between km 137+330 and km 140+260) and this section is expected to be opened to traffic. Starting from 5 September the rehabilitation of the Northern carriageway will commence between km 137 and km 140 of A2. The traffic will be diverted to the Southern carriageway of the motorway in both directions.

The above scope of works is planned to be performed within approx. two weeks. The Company obliged the contractor to timely complete the works in the least arduous way for drivers. However, unfavorable weather conditions, such as strong wind and rainfall may cause the works completion date to change.

The rehabilitation of bituminous pavement between Nowy Tomyśl and Poznań is provided for in the long term plan of repair works with the purpose to ensure high road quality and safety and comfort of drivers. Autostrada Wielkopolska is the longest and the most heavily used concession motorway section in Poland. A large part of the vehicles driving in the motorway are heavy vehicles, naturally increasing the wearing of pavement which requires rehabilitation as a result.

Pavement rehabilitation on the A2 motorway in the area of Buk

On 18 August the mainline pavement rehabilitation on the A2 motorway between Nowy Tomyśl and Poznań  will enter another phase. It will involve closing to traffic of part of the southern carriageway in a ca. 6-km  section (between km 134 and km 140 of A2) and the exit slip roads at the Buk interchange. As of 18 August  it will be possible to exit the motorway to drivers coming from Świecko and as of 22 August - to drivers  coming from Poznań. Rehabilitation works at Buk interchange will necessitate detours. Drivers are  requested to be particularly alert and to abide by the temporary traffic organization signs.

Autostrada Wielkopolska has been performing a long-term heavy maintenance program, in line with the time  schedule and approved deadlines for the section Nowy Tomyśl – Poznań Zachód (West). In order to minimize  the works' impact on traffic and the drivers' comfort, the works have been phased. After works were  completed in the area of the Nowy Tomyśl interchange, rehabilitation has been progressing in the mainline  heading towards Poznań. Another phase to commence on 18 August involves rehabilitation of the Buk  interchange (at ca. km 140 of A2).

During that stage, on 18 August, the exit slip road at Buk interchange will be closed for traffic coming from  Świecko. A detour shall run from Nowy Tomyśl interchange through district road 305 (DW305), further through  district road 308 (DW308) and DW 307 to Buk.

On 22 August the slip road at Buk interchange will be closed to traffic coming from Poznań. A detour shall run  through Poznań Zachód Interchange, S11 expressway to Poznań Ławica interchange and further onto district  road 307 (DW307) to Buk.

Pavement rehabilitation on the A2 motorway in the area of Buk

In parallel, works will be performed in the mainline southern carriageway, in the section of ca. 6 km (between  km 134+320 and km 140+260). This means that entire traffic will be directed to the northern carriageway  which will be used by drivers in both directions.

The abovementioned scope of works has been scheduled to be completed in ca. 2 weeks. Subsequently, the  entry slip roads will be rehabilitated. We shall notify the drivers about that phase separately.

The Company imposed an obligation onto the contractor to timely complete the woks with as little  inconvenience for drivers as possible. However, please note that the completion date may be affected by  weather conditions, high winds, rain, etc.

The rehabilitation works of the bituminous pavement in the section Nowy Tomyśl - Poznań stem from the  concessionaire's care to maintain high quality of the road and trip safety and comfort to drivers. Autostrada  Wielkopolska motorway is the longest and most driven motorway section in Poland. A large share of this traffic  are heavy goods vehicles, which naturally contribute to more wear and tear and more frequent need to  rehabilitate the pavement.

Pavement rehabilitation on the A2 motorway in the area of Nowy Tomyśl - next stage

The rehabilitation of a 4 km section of the slip roads at the Nowy Tomyśl interchange (at ca. km 108 of A2) is scheduled for completion by 27 July. This means that it will be possible to enter and exit the A2 motorway again at that interchange. As the mainline resurfacing works continue, the drivers using the concession section of A2 are requested to stay alert and abide by the temporary traffic organization signage.

Autostrada Wielkopolska has been performing resurfacing works in the area of Nowy Tomyśl (at km 108 of A2) on the dates and in accordance with the approved work program. The reopening of the entry sliproads in Nowy Tomyśl is scheduled for 27 July, less than 2 weeks after the rehabilitation works commenced. This means it will be possible to use the entry to and exit from the A2 motorway and the drivers will no longer have to take detours. The final completion depends on the weather conditions, as strong wind, rain etc. may affect the completion deadline.

The mainline resurfacing works on the southern carriageway are being continued. The entire traffic has been directed to the northern carriageway, in both directions. Currently, a 7 km stretch between km 124 and km 131 of A2 Poznań-bound is under rehabilitation. Works will be continued in phases (sections) to minimize their impact on the traffic and the drivers' comfort.

These works are part of the long-term heavy maintenance program resulting from the commitment on the part of Autostrada Wielkopolska to maintain high quality of the road and to provide comfort of travel and safety to all drivers.

Drivers are requested to be alert and to abide by the temporary traffic organization signs.

The Company Autostrada Wielkopolska SA commences the works involving rehabilitation and upgrading of the pavement in the section Nowy Tomyśl – Poznań Zachód. The resurfacing works are a token of the Concessionaire's diligence in terms of maintaining high quality of the road and providing travel comfort and safety to drivers using the motorway of Autostrada Wielkopolska.

In order to minimize the works' impact on traffic and the drivers' comfort, the works have been phased. The second phase involves rehabilitation of a 3,5 km section of the southern carriageway (km 121 – 123) as well as the enter slip roads on the Nowy Tomyśl interchange (at ca. km 108 of A2).

This Saturday, 9 July, traffic will be relocated from the southern carriageway into the northern one, in a ca. 3,5 km long section (from km 121 to km 123). This means that entire traffic will be directed to the left (northern) carriageway which will be used by drivers in both directions.

On the 14 July the exit slip roads at Nowy Tomyśl intercharge will be open to traffic and the enter slip roads will be closed to traffic. Drivers who intend to enter the motorway at the Nowy Tomyśl interchange will have to use the detours:

For the vehicles driving toward Warsaw there will be a detour through the district road 305 (DW305), Bolewicko and exiting at a roundabout to the national road 92 (DK92), further to the Tarnowo Podgórne interchange and onto S11 and finally onto Poznań Zachód (West) interchange to A2 direction Warsaw.

The completion date may be affected by weather conditions, high winds, rain, etc. The Company imposed an obligation onto the contractor to timely complete the works with as little inconvenience for drivers as possible.

Pavement rehabilitation on the A2 motorway in the area of Nowy Tomyśl

On 25 June, rehabilitation of pavement will begin on the A2 Motorway in the area of the Nowy Tomyśl  interchange (at ca. 108 km of A2). The works are a part of the long-term heavy maintenance program. The  works will result in scheduled detours as of 29 June.

The  initial phase involves rehabilitation of a 4 km section of the northern carriageway (km 108 - 112) in the area of  the Nowy Tomyśl interchange, as well as the slip roads on that interchange (at ca. km 108 of A2).

Reintroduction of toll collection for Ukrainian passenger cars

Autostrada Wielkopolska, acting in consultation with the Ministry of Infrastructure of Poland, decided to restore toll collection for passenger cars registered in Ukraine as of 1 June 2022. Vehicles with humanitarian aid to the citizens of Ukraine will remain toll exempt.

As of 1 June 2022 passenger cars registered in Ukraine will no longer be exempted from payment of toll for travelling on the A2 toll motorway section under the concession agreement. This means that cat. 1 vehicles that bear Ukrainian number plates will be required to pay the toll like any other road user, as per the toll rate schedule applicable to a given section.

The exemption from payment of toll for travelling on the A2 toll motorway section under the concession scheme for passenger cars registered in Ukraine and other cars with humanitarian aid was introduced on 1 March 2022. About 75,000 vehicles bearing Ukrainian number plates and about 4,000 vehicles with humanitarian aid were exempted from paying the toll on the A2 section between Nowy Tomyśl and Konin alone. Thus the value of not collected toll exceeded PLN 2.5 million. This is the actual aid that we have provided directly to the war refugees and those Ukrainians who had remained in their country.

In addition, Autostrada Wielkopolska, acting in consultation with the Ministry of Infrastructure, decided to continue toll exemption for vehicles transporting humanitarian aid. In order to obtain toll exemption for a trip on the A2 section between Świecko and Konin the interested party must apply for it at ua@awsa.pl stating the details of the planned travel.

Any such application should include:

1.    Name of the humanitarian organisation/ institution providing the humanitarian aid. If the transport is ordered by a humanitarian organisation, the applicant is requested to attach a relevant confirmation by the organisation in question.

2.    Contact data (email address)

3.    Registration numbers of the vehicles concerned.

4.    Planned date and route of travel of the vehicles transporting the humanitarian aid.

5.    Signature of the authorised representative of the Humanitarian Organisation.

The act of sending the application does not mean toll exemption by itself. The applicant must wait for approval of the application by the Company or further instructions, as the case may be.

The applications for toll exemption for vehicles with humanitarian aid for the citizens of Ukraine are processed 8:00 – 16:00, Monday to Friday.

We kindly remind you that the planned trip should be advised with a minimum 24 hour notice. If the planned trip with humanitarian aid falls on the weekend or on Monday, the application should be sent to ua@awsa.pl by the preceding Friday by 10 a.m. at the latest.

IMPORTANT! Exemption from tolls for using the A2 motorway on the Świecko-Konin section - humanitarian aid for Ukraine

In order to arrange humanitarian trips for Ukraine, please contact the Autostrada Wielkopolska hotline: tel. +48 800 022 242 or e-mail: infolinia@mail.autostrada-a2.pl; or ua@awsa.pl.

These journeys must be reported at least 24 hours before the planned journey or by 10.00 am on Friday if the journey will take place on Saturday or Sunday.

New toll rates in A2 Nowy Tomyśl – Konin section

From 10 January 2022 the toll rates for toll sections of Autostrada Wielkopolska between Nowy Tomyśl and Konin route will change. The change is dictated by the increasing costs of motorway maintenance and the growing inflation. The cost of traveling on the Świecko - Nowy Tomyśl section of the A2 motorway remains unchanged.

The change in toll rates for driving the 150 km section of A2 will come into effect on 10 January 2022. The toll rate for each of the three 50 km sections of the motorway between Nowy Tomyśl and Konin will apply starting from 6.00 am, and will amount to:

  • 25 PLN - Cat. 1 (motorcycles and passenger vehicles with two axles)

  • 37 PLN - Cat. 2 (two-axle motor vehicles, at least one of which is equipped with twin wheels, and motorcycles and two-axle motor vehicles with trailers)

  • 57 PLN - Cat. 3 (three-axle motor vehicles and two-axle motor vehicles, at least one of which is equipped with twin wheels with trailers)

  • 87 PLN - Cat. 4 (motor vehicles with more than three axles and motor vehicles with three axles with trailers)

  • 250 PLN - Cat. 5 (oversize vehicles)

The presented toll rates include 23%. VAT, because tolls on concession motorways in Poland are subject to the tax on goods and services, unlike public motorways where such tax is not collected.

The cost of traveling on the Autostrada Wielkopolska on the Świecko - Nowy Tomyśl route remains unchanged. In this case, drivers of category 1 vehicles pay PLN 18 for driving 106 km. Driving through the entire 255 km section of Autostrada Wielkopolska from Świecko to Konin costs passenger car drivers about PLN 0.36 per kilometer.

The change in prices is dictated by the increase in maintenance costs, loan servicing and the implementation of a long-term investment plan. The rapidly growing inflation, maintained at the highest level in 20 years, as well as the increase in prices in the construction sector and producer prices translate into an increase in the costs of maintenance, as well as currently implemented and planned investments. Estimated data from the Central Statistical Office (GUS) show that in December 2021 inflation reached the highest level in two decades, i.e. 8,6% compared to the same month of the previous year. Transport prices grew at a double-digit pace, and their increase exceeded 24%. Additionally, the producer price index has been growing continuously for 14 months in all industry sections, reaching the level of 13.2% y/y in November, the highest in 10 years.

Autostrada Wielkopolska is the longest and currently the oldest section of the A2. It is also the most intensely used motorway in the country, with a large share of heavy vehicles. The average daily vehicle traffic on the Nowy Tomyśl - Konin section amounts to approximately 30,000 vehicles. Despite the rising costs, Autostrada Wielkopolska has been carrying out upgrading works in accordance with the adopted plan and obligations of the concession agreement, in order to provide drivers with high quality and safety of travel:

• In 2021, the pavement was upgraded at the Września motorway interchange, the ERTs were replaced and the toilet buildings at Rest and Service Areas and TPs were modernized,

• Rehabilitation of the pavement on the Nowy Tomyśl - Poznań Zachód section, rehabilitation of engineering structures (bridges and overbridges) and construction of a new maintenance base in Września are planned,

• The network of electric vehicle charging stations is being expanded and solutions are being prepared to protect the environment and increase the safety of drivers.

• Planning works have begun on the further expansion of the Poznań Bypass by a third lane on the Poznań Krzesiny - Poznań Wschód section.

It is worth emphasizing that none of the projects carried out by Autostrada Wielkopolska I is financed by the state budget or taxpayers. Increased revenues from changes in toll rates in recent years have been allocated to, inter alia, the expansion of the Poznań bypass by a third lane. The project cost over PLN 200 million and was fully financed from the concessionaire's own funds. The modern motorway Poznań Bypass is eagerly used by drivers of the Poznań metropolis. Currently, traffic in by Bypass reaches 90,000 vehicles a day. Only a quarter of those who use the motorway bypass of the capital of Wielkopolska pay for the toll, while as much as 75 percent of the traffic on the bypass are vehicles coming from the S11 road, city arteries and the S5 road which use the bypass free of charge.

Autostrada Wielkopolska has been working on the implementation of the facilities for drivers traveling on the concession section of A2 in the field of electronic toll collection, using the reading of registration plates, the so-called videotolling. It will be a system known from other Polish concession motorways and compliant with the European standard. As soon as the Ministry of Infrastructure issues its consent, efforts will be made to implement such project without undue delay and for the benefit of all users of the Motorway of Freedom.

For many years, Autostrada Wielkopolska has been providing travelers with safe travel and the highest standard of service. This means in particular:

  • Very good pavement maintenance and safe passage,

  • 24-hours, 7 days a week, constant assistance by the services in the event of a breakdown or incident,

  • Infoline and other communication channels for drivers,

  • Clean and safe Rest and Service Areas

  • Availability of a network of gas stations with restaurants,

  • Caring for animal welfare, crossings and maintaining greenery,

  • High environmental protection standards.

Autostrada Wielkopolska SA and Autostrada Wielkopolska II SA are international concession companies responsible for the construction and operation of the 255 km long A2 motorway section from Świecko to Konin, which is the largest investment in the Public-Private Partnership system in this part of Europe. The projects carried out by both concession companies turned out to be of great success, i.e. were implemented on time and within the assumed budgets, agreed with the public party and banks, without EU subsidies and without co-financing from the State Treasury. The main shareholders of Autostrada Wielkopolska SA and Autostrada Wielkopolska II SA are Meridiam international fund and KI One SA.
